My Story

I began my walk on mother earth on a mixed farm in rural Alberta.  My immediate family was quite large 9 of us in a crowded little farm house filled with love, laughter and good food.

My husband and I moved to Victoria in 2014 where we are enjoying warmer winters, beautiful scenery, adventures and an abundance of fresh air.

I am a wife, sister, aunt, friend, caregiver, confidant, family advocate, a mother of 3 adult children, plus 2 bonus  children, a grandmother of 8, numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as a proud pet nana to a toy poodle and a yorkshire terrier.

I did not have the support of a doula with any of my pregnancies or births; however I had my dearest sister, she was never trained as a doula but she has the heart of gold, the knowledge and experiences to coach & guide me offering her helping hands.  Without the support of her and her family I am unsure how I could have navigated my shifting sands.

Then when someone I love dearly experienced Postpartum Depression and Anxiety I tried to get resources for her and her family (they were living in a rural area), those services (or the lack of them) were tremendously hard to find. This made me realize what a important role a Doula serves in pregnancy, birth, and family transitioning! Witnessing the lack of community supports made me shift gears, follow my heart & true calling take further education & trainings and become a certified Doula so I could serve others.

Creating a family is one of the most beautiful things about humanity. As a Holistic and  Evidence Based Doula, I am privileged to serve women and their partners make their experiences as positive and healthy as possible.

I took my training through Dona International, The Matrona, and Douglas College. I offer a full spectrum of support to women and families on Vancouver Island, and am willing to travel, to reach families in need in rural areas.

As a Doula, I offer personalized, hands-on prenatal, birthing, and postnatal support. I believe my previous experiences, education, and knowledge helps expecting mothers and their families make informed decisions throughout the experience of bringing new life into this world.

My goal is to provide you and your family with the attention and evidence based knowledge you need to make informed decisions about your pregnancy, labor, and beyond.

I am very passionate about my work and the lives I touch. Each and everyone's story is unique and personal. Everyone has their own dreams of their perfect birth. I am here to help you with your birth plan and honor and support your wishes to the best of my abilities.
